● Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH)

AMH is a member of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) superfamily. In females, AMH is predominantly secreted by the granulosa cells of the ovaries, regulating folliculogenesis. AMH levels do not change significantly throughout the menstrual cycle and gradually decline during pregnancy. Serum AMH level can serve as a marker of ovarian reserve function, reflecting the number of antral follicles in the ovaries, and is also a marker of ovarian responsiveness during controlled ovarian stimulation.

● Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) and Progesterone (Prog)

Ectopic pregnancy, defined as implantation of the fertilized egg outside the uterine cavity, has an incidence of 2%-3% among early pregnancy women. Despite advancements in diagnostics and therapeutics, tubal pregnancy rupture remains a major cause of pregnancy-related deaths4. From 2011 to 2013, tubal pregnancy rupture accounted for 2.7% of all pregnancy-related fatalities in the United States.

The Consensus of Chinese Experts on the Construction and Standardization of Emergency Medical Laboratory Capability (2020) states that human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) and progesterone (Prog) are recommended for emergency detection in gynecological emergencies such as ectopic pregnancy and rupture with massive hemorrhage.
